We’re looking for a Registered Nurse in Madison, WI that will help cover on-call. This is mainly a work from home position, but will occasionally require you to respond to calls that require in-person intervention. As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will be responsible for providing telephone nurse triage and health advice to patients with clinical questions or symptoms.

Hours for the Home Health Registered Nurse (RN) in Madison include:

  • 5 p.m. – 8 a.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Every other weekend from 5 p.m. Friday evening through 8 a.m. Monday morning.
  • Provide a minimum of 8-12 hours of hands-on patient care per month during regular business hours.

Certification Requirements

  • Registered nurse with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing for an accredited program by the National League for Nursing.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a home health organization.
  • Current American Heart Association CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers.
  • Promote and maintain a team-oriented environment.
  • Shows ability to organize and prioritize workload independently.
  • Ability to market and deal tactfully with customers and the community.
  • Demonstrates tact, patience and good personal hygiene.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to follow direction and accurately report to the supervisory staff any changes in patient’s condition.

Job Duties

  • Assume primary responsibility for PRN Home Health & Therapy total census during assigned shift.
  • Answer all phone calls received on behalf of the company, and follow up according to company policy and procedures.
  • Provide skilled nursing, intervention, and supportive care to patients in the home setting.
  • Maintain regular communication with company staff and the patient’s referring physician and/or case manager concerning patient/family care needs and response to interventions.
  • Maintain up-to-date patient records so that problems, goals and interventions are accurately and clearly stated and changes are reflected as they occur.
  • Complete documentation within guidelines and to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Submit completed documentation within one business day after on-call services are provided.
  • Accept referrals for new patients in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with company nursing staff to review problems or unique issues from on-call hours.
  • Participate in the company’s orientation and in-service training programs for professional staff.
  • Ability to remain within 45 miles of the company’s service area while on-call.
