Patient Service Representative

In this position you will provide excellent customer service and be a source of support to patients and team members! Being part of the Intake teams means that you are responsible for coordinating all new referrals made to PRN Home Health & Therapy, LLC, ensuring that they meet the agency’s policies and procedures as well as federal/state regulations and guidelines. To strive in this position you must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have great time-management skills necessary to perform a variety of duties concurrently. This position will provide excellent customer service and be a source of support to patients and team members alike. The Patient Service Representative will work under the supervision of the Intake Supervisor and Administrator and work in our Appleton office.

Certification Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Preferably 3 years’ experience in patient intake or medical office administration, preferably Home Health or home medical equipment.
- Promote and maintain a team-oriented environment.
- Shows ability to organize, multitask and prioritize workload independently in a fast-paced environment and work under time constraints.
- Ability to market and deal tactfully with customers and the community.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding professionalism and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Knowledge of medical billing and collection practices.
- Strong computer knowledge and skills including Excel and Word.
- Ability to learn new software programs quickly.
Job Duties
- Answer telephone calls using professional telephone etiquette while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Coordinate new referrals between patients, outside referral sources and internal staff.
- Ensure PRN Home Health & Therapy, LLC intake processes meets applicable local, state, and federal licensing/regulatory requirements in addition to agency policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with PRN Home Health & Therapy , LLC clinical staff to assure efficient admission of new referrals.
- Ensure effective and timely coordination of client home health services through the completion of required documentation and computer data entry for new intakes, as well as timely transfer of pertinent medical data to client’s physician, nurses and therapists.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive client medical data throughout the intake process.
- Verify insurance benefit and completion of precertification.
- Notify Supervisor and/or Administrator regarding proposed changes that may affect intake practices.
- Investigate and take appropriate actions on client and consumer complaints or concerns.
- Act in compliance with PRN Home Health and Therapy Management policies and procedures, State, Federal and Professional Organization regulatory and professional standards and guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
